Okay, so maybe it's a bit ambitious for me to refer to myself as a chef, but last night was a milestone. Some friends were over for dinner and hanging out. I was in the kitchen making pancakes for part of our dinner and Ryan was helping me. We had 2 skillets out and my small skillet had just one pancake in it. I looked at Ryan and asked him if he thought I could do the cool chef thing where you flip the stuff in the pan just by shaking the pan and the stuff goes in the air..etc, etc, etc. Ryan was skeptical of my ability to do this and get the pancake to land back in the pan, but I decided to give it a try. Drum roll please....IT WORKED!!! I flipped the pancake with no spatula!!! Amazingness!! I'm pretty sure Ryan's jaw dropped open, then after he recovered from shock he gave me a high 5 and decided he was going to try it too. Ryan successfully flipped the pancake as well and we celebrated our amazing cooking skills. Scott, however, lacks pancake flipping skills that Ryan and I possess. We called him into the kitchen to try flipping the pancake and it fell out onto the stove...but on second attempt, Scott succeeded. This might not sound like a big deal to you, but with my cooking abilities, it was a major milestone for me.
Unfortunately, those skills didn't carry over to tonight...Fawn and I decided to try our hand at the Snickerdoodle cookies that Scott and I had attempted a few weeks ago (but failed at when I forgot to put in the eggs). We put in the eggs, but unfortunately, they still came out hard. I'm thinking this recipe is going in the garbage. I have no idea what else to try with it. Frustrating.
I suppose I'll stick to pancake flipping.
